Frequently Asked Questions

When is the application deadline?
For searches that adhere to our typical faculty recruitment cycle, which for the 2024-2025 cycle includes all Research Programs, application materials and reference letters must be submitted by October 18, 2024. If a search is still underway after October 18, it will be listed on the landing page at http://facultysearch.ski.edu and each search will be handled by the respective Program that may be still receiving applications.

When will my application be reviewed?
The search committee may look at your application as soon as you submit it. A complete review of all applicants will begin immediately after the application deadline. Please note: The program may choose to delay the review of applications that do not have letters of reference associated with them.

Can I start my application and finish it later?
Yes, you will be able to login as often as necessary to complete your application before the application deadline. You will have the option to initiate the request for letters of reference prior to submitting your application. Should you wish to wait until your application is complete, we advise that you submit your application as far in advance of the deadline date as possible to give your referees ample time to submit their reference letters.

May I apply to more than one search?
You may apply to two (2) Research Programs. If you apply to more than one program, your cover letter needs to outline how your research objectives fit with each of the programs to which you are applying. Please also include the names of each program you are applying to in your cover letter.

How will my letters of reference be requested?

After you submit your completed application or early request for letters, the referees you have listed in the system will be sent an e-mail that provides them a link through which they can upload their reference letter. Please alert your referees that they will receive such an e-mail and follow up with them to ensure that they were able to successfully upload the letter. They will be required to upload their letter in PDF format and will be provided our system administrator contact (facultysearch@mskcc.org / 646-888-3704) in case they have any issues with the process.

What is the deadline for reference letters?
Reference letters must be received by Friday, October 18, 2024.

How can I check the status of my letters of reference?
After you submit your application you will be provided a link which will allow you to login to the system to check the status of your reference letters.

Do you accept reference letters after the reference letter deadline?
Though we will accept reference letters for a brief period after the reference letter deadline of October 18, 2024, you are strongly encouraged to submit your application in advance of our application deadline so that your referees have ample time to submit their letters before the reference letter deadline.

How many letters of reference are required for my application?
For applicants at the Assistant Member level, a minimum of three letters are required, and a maximum of five letters will be accepted. Senior applicants who currently hold tenured or tenure-track positions may but are not required to include letters with their application.

After you submit your application, you should immediately receive an automated e-mail confirmation from the system. Shortly after, (within 5 business days), you should receive a second confirmation from the coordinator responsible for managing the review of your application. If you have applied for more than one position, you should receive one coordinator confirmation e-mail for each position you have applied for. If you have not received a receipt confirmation from a coordinator within five (5) business days of your submission or if you have any other problems with your application, please do not hesitate to contact our Administrator at facultysearch@mskcc.org or 646-888-3704.
